SPEAKER: BARBARA MELVIN, President & CEO, South Carolina Ports. Barbara has made history as the first woman to lead a top 10 U.S. container port, notably overseeing the deepening of Charleston Harbor to 52 feet, the deepest on the East Coast. With 25 years at SC Ports, she rose from government relations to COO in 2018 and CEO in 2022. Under her leadership, she’s earned recognitions including the 2023 Leading Woman by SC Women in Leadership and the Outstanding Women in Supply Chain Award. Leading a 1,000-person team, Barbara plays a crucial role in keeping the Port of Charleston and South Carolina’s inland ports operational and efficient.
