Isle of Palms: The Perfect Winter Beach Getaway
Isle of Palms is a year-round vacation destination. With mild temperatures, smaller crowds, and less competition for reservations, the beginning of the year can be the perfect time to book a beach getaway. There are still plenty of ways to enjoy abundant sunshine on Isle of Palms in winter, and this guide includes everything you need to plan your next visit.
Great deals on vacation rentals
With less demand comes lower prices for beachfront properties and other vacation rentals on Isle of Palms. If you have ever wanted to spend a girls’ weekend in a house on Palm Blvd or rent a golf-course adjacent home on Wild Dunes, winter may be the best season for frugality.
The Isle of Palms Chamber of Commerce invites you to book your winter beach vacation through one of these member businesses:
- Carroll Realty
- Dunes Properties of Charleston
- East Island Rentals
- Exclusive Properties
- Island Realty
- Carolina One Vacation Rentals
- Wild Dunes
- IOP Escapes
- Carolina Rentals
- Sweetgrass Properties
While winter may not be the greatest time to enjoy the ocean and sandy beach (although you can participate in the Polar Plunge on January 1st!), it is still a good time to come to the beach. Crowds are gone and you might get lucky and have the beach (sort of) to yourself on one of those lucky days when it is in the 60s on Isle of Palms in winter.
Oysters, oysters, oysters
One thing that low country residents look forward to in the winter season is oyster roasts. There is something about watching the steam rise off a fresh table full of oysters that gets the blood flowing and makes the cold weather more bearable.
Every Saturday and Sunday during the winter months, The Windjammer is roasting up oysters from 11:30 AM- until.
Winter is the best time to make a reservation
We all know that the popularity of Isle of Palms restaurants makes it difficult to find prime reservations or that perfect table for two…or 12. But, during the winter months, tourism is slower and many of these restaurants have availability, even on Saturday and Sunday. Although, we still recommend you call and plan ahead because in the greater Charleston Area, you never know how busy a restaurant is going to be until you call.
Isle of Palms is lucky to host some of the area’s best restaurants. Here are some Chamber members that you should consider:
